Kind words from families and schools
Families
“B. started Kindergarten yesterday and was very nervous heading to her orientation. As we were driving she told me that she was going to take 2 deep breaths to calm herself down. I asked her who taught her that and she said that you did, and that 2 deep breaths can calm your engine when you feel nervous.
Orientation went well and she left very excited about Kindergarten. Just wanted to let you know that she remembered what you said and it helped her feel good about starting something new :)”
“As a school and child psychologist, I am always looking to connect with other professionals that support the growth and development of children. Upon meeting Amy Peterson, it was clear that she not only held expertise and knowledge in the field of occupational therapy, but understood how to approach children and help them feel comfortable and supported. When my own son demonstrated difficulty with emotional regulation and fine motor skills, I consulted with Ms. Peterson. She helped me understand his needs more fully and developed a treatment plan that worked for our family. My son is gaining valuable skills in controlling his energy level and emotional response as well as developing the fine motor skills that will be necessary as he enters kindergarten. Ms. Peterson makes my son feel successful as she provides a safe and positive environment for him to try new strategies and improve upon his techniques. I am grateful to have her as a resource both professionally and personally.”
“Our son participated in Blossom Club since its first session, and now that he is thriving in Kindergarten he still asks if he can go back. Amy's sessions are fun, and every bit of play has its purpose. Her patience, experience, enthusiasm and understanding created a wonderful environment for our son to work on his skills while having a great time. During our time at Blossom Club we saw tremendous gains in our son's ability to attend, transition and participate, as well as a strengthening of his fine motor skills, and he had a ton of fun while doing it. We will always be grateful to Blossom Club and Amy for helping our son meet his full potential, and doing it in such a caring and supportive way.”
“Words can't express our gratitude for Amy Peterson and the training she has provided for our son R. Over the course of a year, he was a participant in Blossom Club; Amy also provided focused therapy sessions to address his physical praxis and coordination deficits. The improvements we saw in R's physical development were astounding. In the duration of just a few months, he went from being unable to perform simple mirroring tasks to winning the 3-legged race in the July 4th festival! We were astonished, and have Amy to thank for it all. On top of this, Amy is simply the kindest, most encouraging, and gentlest teacher one could ever have. She has been a great role model and mentor for our son, in learning how to deal with his emotions, and in coping with frustrating situations. We give our highest recommendation for Amy!”
“Amy, this is why one hires professionals. It's no surprise to you, but you just thought of things and have tricks and ideas that normal people don't think of. From the weighted pillow to the chair foot fidget to the night-before preparations before your school visit, this has been just incredibly polished and rewarding. This is a completely different experience than what we had experienced before. I can't wait to refer others to you.
Thank you for your communication with GFS, the visits, the work, the creativity, everything.”
“Our work with Amy was wonderful right from the beginning. She got back to us quickly when we first reached out and made it a priority to fit us into her schedule right away. It was clear that Amy has a way with children and could connect with them in a way that felt like her work was not work at all! She made our son feel comfortable and provided positive reinforcement to help regulate his sensory needs. She helped us navigate issues our son was having at school and worked well as a liaison with the school. I am very happy that Amy is a part of our village and would highly recommend her!”
Schools: A Sensory Approach to Learning in-service
“We had Amy and Kate present for our Teacher In-service day and at a Mainline Preschool Directors meeting and they were wonderful! The information they provided was on point and easy to implement into our classrooms. I highly recommend them and will use them again in the future.”
“After the engaging and informative presentation by Amy and Kate, our preschool teachers walked away with useful strategies that they immediately and effectively integrated into their classroom practices.”
“Amy, thank you once again for your presentation yesterday! I have had a lot of great feedback from my staff letting me know how much they learned and how useful that information will be in their classrooms. They especially liked the concrete suggestions you provided for implementing new strategies with specific children. We were grateful for your expertise!”
